Vincent C.-C. Wang  (Principal investigator)

Vincent grew up in Taiwan and obtained his BS and MS degree from National Taiwan University where he worked with Sunney Chan to study the mechanism of particulate methane monooxygenae. Then he joined Fraser Armstrong group at University of Oxford to investigate several metalloenzymes, such as carbon monoxide dehydrogenase, by protein film electrochemistry for his DPhil (equivalent to PhD) studies. In the meantime, he also ran a bike workshop with couple great friends at Wolfson college.

After obtaining his DPhil degree, he went to University of British Columbia with Curtis Berlinguette as a postdoc and worked on the development of new materials for CO2 reduction. In 2016-2019, he was awarded with Wenner-Gren fellowship with Leif Hammaström at Uppsala University to develop time-resolved infrared spectroscopy for investigations of the catalytic mechanism of hydrogenases. In Uppsala, he also actively participated the wine club at Swedish consortium of artificial photosynthesis. In addition, he also spent couple months as a visiting research assistant at Academia Sinica with his wonderful friend, Tiow-Gan Ong to conduct research on photoredox catalysis.

Recently, he was awarded with the young scholar fellowship (5-year research grant) from MOST and started to build up his own research team at National Sun Yat-Sen University in 2021.

Marvin Hsuan Chang  (M.S. student) co-supervised with Dr. Wen-Ching Chen

Thinking ???  Postulating ?? or just Confusing ?

Hsuan Chang was born in Taipei, and got his B.S. from Department of Medicinal and Applied Chemistry in Kaohsiung Medical University in 2020. He joined the group in the summer of 2021.  His research topic is about the development of new types of electrocatalysts.

Yu-Syuan Tsai (Ph.D student)

Yu-Syuan received his B.S. degree from National University of Kaohsiung, and joined the lab in the summer of 2021 to work on the electrochemical Nickel-catalyzed cross-coupling and photoredox catalysis, co-supervised by Prof. Liao. In her spare time, she enjoys playing badminton and watching baseball games.Recently, She just completed her M.S. thesis and defence with a thesis title : Explorations of electrochemically driven Ni-mediated cross-coupling reactions using mercaptans and ketone-derived dihydroquinazolinones with aryl halides, co-supervised with Prof. Hsuan-Hung Liao)

Charasee Laddika Dayawansa   (M.S. Student)  co-supervised with Prof. Hsuan-Hung Liao

My name is Charasee Laddika Dayawansa. I was born and raised in central hills, Sri Lanka and I received my B.Sc. (hons) in Chemistry in 2019 from University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka. While hoping to pursue my higher studues abroad, I worked as a full-time teaching assistant at two Sri Lankan Universities, University of Peradeniya and Uva Wellassa University. I have joined VW group fall 2021 as a Master student and I am hoping to gain, explore research experience in the area of both electro and photo catalysis.

Dr. Rama Ramamoorthy   (post-doctoral reseracher)

I'm Ramasubramanian Ramamoorthy and defended my doctoral thesis in the field of bioinorganic Chemistry from Madurai Kamaraj University, Madurai, Tamilnadu, India. My thesis focused on the development of synthetic analogues for non-heme iron enzymes to activate the molecular oxygen for various organic transformations. From Nov. 2022, I’m pleased to associate with VW-group as post-doctoral fellow, working on “Secondary-sphere effects in molecular electro/photocatalytic CO2 reduction reactions using early transition metal complexes”.

Yu-Wei Chen (a.k.a Bluebaby) M.S. Student

Bluebaby grew up in Changhua City and obtained his BS degree from the Department of Applied Chemistry at National Chi Nan University in 2022. While he was an ungraduated student, he studied electrochemical analysis and electrochemical sensors. Therefore, he had strong interesting in electrochemistry. He joined VW group in the summer of 2022 to work on mechanistic investigations of homogeneous electrocatalysts for sustainable catalysis.

Sharon Hsing  (Administrative assistant )

Hi! My Chinese name is Wen-Ling Hsing. I am pleased to join VW team of National Sun Yat-sen University since March 2021. I received my Master degree from the English Department of National Kaohsiung Normal University. Actually, I have worked for over ten years at another university. I am always enthusiastic in the work about the educational administration and keep my skill up to date. As Administrative Assistant of the Lab, my task is to proceed the internal procedure of facilities and instruments purchase, manage the laboratory finance, implement the laboratory safe and hygiene measures, and support professors and students both in research and learning life. I aim to provide efficient, rational and friendly services, and expect that students with the chemistry potential benefit from our lab’s education and service and develop of their best.
